Sirjan rugs are named after Sirjan, the capital city of Sirjan County in Kerman Province, Iran. Many of the weavers here belonged to the Afshar nomadic tribe who many rug experts believe we’re the first carpet makers to make use of the ‘Boteh’ or ‘Paisley’ pattern which became popular among Western rug consumers. Sirjan or Afshar rugs are traditionally made using colors in the deep red and blue spectrum.
